This from Chris Glynn today:

I’m just back from the funeral of John Whatnall who you may remember as Mr Toad in Wind in the Willows which I directed at St. Augustine’s. He became Head Boy, read law at Oxford and became a very successful lawyer in London, Manchester and Qatar. He never married and his two brothers (also old boys) were his chief mourners. He died of a heart attack. Only 61. He had a requiem Mass at the Catholic Church in Alderly Edge which was nicely done by an Kerala Indian PP.
