For some reason or other I woke up this morning singing almost all the verses of the Golden Evening song... Soon soon to faithful warriors cometh rest..... The staff went through almost the same ting as you lot. I was only a few years older than you, in my first professional job teaching, so it was a major eye-opener. Was every school like this, I thought. No, not. But it was certainly highly memorable - witness this post 45 years later! I've worked in several schools since then, as teacher and headmaster, but nothing approaches the eccentricity of St. A's. What a place.
