My fondest memories were the school trips in the summer holidays. What a character Mr thorpe was and a teacher, I suspect who had an understanding of education well beyond some of his peers. Also I got free school dinners and often was able to have seconds. We weren't the most well off family and school dinners were a really treat. Never been able to get better in any works canteens since to be honest.
