Does anyone have any further info re change of name ie loss of "Technical" from St Augustine's Grammar School? It is certainly folklore that this was achieved by repainting the sign and reordering the stationary on a whim of the Headmaster.

However both the Marist and St Gregory's achieved a similar transition within a year or two of the St Augustine's transformation, suggesting that this change was promoted by MEC (or followed by MEC after St Aug's unilateral action?).

It would not of course be out of character to claim responsibility for an MEC policy that (unusually) happened to be in accord with the Headmaster's aspirations!
