My Dear Old Boys
I am profoundly grateful for your very generous response to the Website Fund which was opened at this time last year. The Fund at present unfortunately stands at £118-15 overdrawn, and so again I am asking for £10 from every old boy from the school. I think we shall soon be in a position to contract for the necessary domain renewal and site hosting. I know that the only kind of website worth having may seem expensive, and many reputable schools do not possess an Old Boys website. All the same, I put it to you that the very best schools do have an Old Boys website and discourse by such is now a regular part of their assemblies and public solemnities. When you first attended one of our school festivals after the website was been installed you would have been be glad to discover the additional splendour which it imparted and you will agree that this great school deserves this additional mark of greatness.
Let me again ask that you contribute £10 for the Website Fund. Since the Website opened twenty five years ago, it is no longer tenable that it should be sustained by one individual and it is now our custom every year to raise funds by donations from the Old Boys, because the supply of the requisites for continuing communion is something which we cannot reasonably demand of the Local Authority. It has always been the policy here to use the best material in the honour of this great school, and during these years our documents have received much wear. The time came to replace and increase our pages so that this great school community may be able to continue to come together in a fitting and memorable manner. I hope that despite the many heavy expenses of this season you will be able to supply the £10 for which we ask.
